5 centimeters per second

Movie Title: "5 centimeters per second"
Directed by: Shinkai, Makoto

Review

“Hey. It’s said that it’s five centimeters per second.”
"Hm. what is?"
“The speed at which cherry blossoms fall. Five centimeters per second.”

The movie title itself was quite intriguing. I mean, why would someone name it "5 centimeters per second"? At first, I had no clue. But as the movie progressed, I soon found out the reason why. Oh, so it was actually referring to the cherry blossoms, the speed at which cherry blossoms fall. The movie received so many good feedbacks, so I decided to give it a try. and man, it's worth it. I tell you. :)

The story is about two very close friends, Tohno and Akari, who were torn apart when the girl's family(Akari) had to transfer to another region in Japan due to her family's job. But despite the distance, both still contact each other through mail. However, as time passes by, they have lost contact of each other. But that didn't stop them from thinking about one another and hoping that they will be able to see each other again and watch the cherry blossoms fall together.

It was actually a very sad movie. It's a story about distance and time that most people could probably relate to. The movie actually consist of 3 parts. 1st is about the distance of the characters from each other. 2nd, the distance of feelings. and 3rd, the distance of time. I have really nothing much to say, just that, go watch it right now. haha. And I must say, the animation was really great. Like, really really good. The places were beautiful, and man, I have nothing in mind right now but to go to Japan and hunt down cherry blossoms. :DDD
